Rockford Rd Kitchen Remodel
Well here we are bringing this original kitchen into the twenty first century. It has had an update in the past with appliances, counter tops, laminate flooring and a fresh coat of paint. But the cabinets which were the original ones. They were what we call in the industry as site built. They were literally built in the kitchen from plywood and furr lumber. This was typical of the way cabinets were built in the Fifties
When we started the demo we checked for lead paint and we were fortunate that there wasn’t any to be seen. So that makes the demolition less of a concern. Granted we did seal off the area from the adjacent rooms to prevent any dust from going out of the work area. We also use a fan to depressurize the room so that there is less of a chance of dust leaving the room. There was a peninsula cabinet with cabinets above. Which also had a drywall soffit above all cabinets that we removed.
We also found some minor issues while removing the cabinets and drywall. There was a broken drain pipe in the wall that we repaired. Also it was found to be no insulation in the exterior wall. So were going to add insulation to the wall. This will benefit the home owners with improved comfort , sound deadening, also it will help prevent the sink plumbing from freezing in the future. We will have photos to show you the changes as we.
It’s has been a little while since I have put pictures on here for the project. We got a little delayed in our progress. But we are moving on now. You can click on any one of the photos below. Then you will be able to look at them all in a larger format.
We are getting close to finishing. So I will do my best to get the finished project on here soon.
Thanks for looking.
